A Movement of Disciple-making Disciples

Our Mission

Following the Holy Spirit, we exist to create a movement of disciple-making disciples, in RDU and around the world.

Our Values

Values are our set of guiding principles that describe who we are, what we do, and what matters in our church.

We prioritize the gospel above all.

The gospel is the power for all that we do. The gospel shapes every aspect of our mission. And the gospel alone provides the basis for our unity. In all that we do, we seek to remove distractions from the gospel, making the gospel as clear and as compelling as possible.

We do whatever it takes to reach all people.

In the parable of the lost sheep, Jesus said there would be more rejoicing over one sinner who repented than of the 99 who were already in the fold. Because he prioritized those outside the fold in his ministry, we prioritize them in ours, constantly asking what we can do to bring the gospel to more people.

We make disciples, not just converts.

The final command Jesus gave his disciples was to make disciples, teaching them to observe all that he had commanded. We realize that heaven does not count professions of faith; heaven counts disciples of Jesus. So, we are committed to developing and discipling all those God has entrusted to us.

We send every member.

Calling is not a special experience for a sacred few. It is a basic element of the Christian life. When believers accept Jesus, they accept his call to join him in his mission. The question, then, is not if our people are sent on mission, but only where and how.

Our Disciple Definition

Everything we do as a church revolves around Jesus’ command to make disciples. But what is a “disciple”?

At the Summit, we arrange our ministries around the five identity traits of disciples we see in Scripture: Every disciple is (1) a worshiper of God, (2) a member of God’s family, (3) a servant to others, (4) a steward of God’s resources, and (5) a witness to the world.

Our Goals

Plant 1,000 Churches in Our Generation (50 Years)

We believe the most beneficial thing for every community is a church that can proclaim and live out the gospel of Jesus, so we are committed to planting churches in strategic cities all over the world. Each year we give at least 10 percent of our budget to our church plants overseas and send hundreds of volunteers to serve those communities. If Christ left the comfort of heaven and clothed himself in our flesh in order to reach us, we should be willing to do whatever it takes to reach people in our community and the world and help create thriving communities of disciples.
